This time it sounds like the burial of financial fair play. Manchester City, which had been suspended for two years from all European competitions for repeated breaches of the UEFA financial code, was finally cleared by the Sports Arbitration Tribunal. The Citizens will therefore participate in the Champions League next season. "Manchester City did not disguise its sponsorship contracts but failed to cooperate with UEFA", the body that manages European football, said the CAS in its decision.

"Manchester City is pleased that this decision validates the club's position and the evidence presented," said a statement.

This decision could weigh heavily on UEFA, which was also playing big, with the risk that the principle of financial fair play so dear to the body will be called into question.

Another "new rich" in the viewfinder of UEFA, the PSG held by a Qatari investment fund, had won last year its legal battle, the CAS validating the call of the PSG.
