Jocke Sjöström subordinated to Iksus' message

The indoor club Iksu, with seven SM golds in the baggage, will not play in SSL next season. On Monday, the board made the decision and today it was submitted to the union.

Jocke Sjöström, who was club manager during Iksu's heyday, is down when he comments on the decision.

- It's an extremely tragic day. I have known that it has been going on for a long time, for a few months it has felt like it will end like this. At the same time, we have fought and tried to find solutions. I don't know ... now I'm just empty. Still, they didn't think it would be a reality, says Sjöström to SVT Sport.

Sjöström has been sitting on two chairs over the past year. He has worked for Iksus' place in SSL and the Thorengruppen's future.

- The Thorengruppen and Iksu have had a collaboration, the idea was that Iksu's second team would be in the Thorengruppen. We would educate local players to a greater extent. So in the past year I have worked 40 percent as a club manager in Iksu in parallel with my sports manager assignment in the Thorengruppen. This decision was above my head within Iksus' walls, says Sjöström.

- My focus in recent times has been to work with possible solutions for players who have locked their lives in Umeå right now with studies and other things.

How will Thorene Group act in the future?

- We have pushed on the plan that has been in the Thorene group. We worked hard for the SSL site and it became so after an appeal. But now the situation is completely different considering that we had the plan to bring up young local products in the Thorengruppen. Now, instead, there are many players available on the market, says Sjöström.

- We have to think and then decide how to build the squad for the future. Now it becomes sharp. We have scheduled meetings with players, things will happen soon.

More players ready to sign for Thorene Group?

- Absolutely, absolutely.

Can you name a few players?

- No, unfortunately I can't. We have promised each other that after all the conditions are in place we will meet.

How do you see the future of the flooring in Umeå?

- The feeling is that we will be able to build a squad that is in the war at the top of SSL already for the next season. The mix that is in the Thorene group and the tip that is in Iksu, which I hope will connect with me, will make us extremely strong.
