Nordqvist has won two majors (PGA Championships 2009 and Evian Championship 2017) but has dropped the rankings to 95th place. It has been a tough period for the women's golfers during the corona pandemic.

"It feels most like most competitions have been canceled, moved and in some cases moved and then canceled", writes Nordqvist to SVT Sport. Nordqvist is now looking forward to the competition and has thoughts on how to achieve success.

“Right now you are very competitive and looking forward to competitions! I have never played Troon, but that was where Stenson won so maybe you should give him a signal and ask for some tips, feel like he has a pretty good track at that place, ”Nordqvist writes.

Would like to repeat Stenson's major triumph

It was at The Troon that Stenson won the British Open 2016 and became the first Swedish men's golfer to win a major.

It will be the first major on the ladies side this season.

"The British Open is an important factor for the success of the women's professional golf," said competition manager Martin Slumbers in a statement.

The first major on the women's side, the Evian Championship, which was due August 6-9, was canceled due to the corona pandemic.

The competition in Scotland is conducted under a strict health protocol and a minimum of people will be allowed to stay in the area.

The qualification for the competition has been canceled.
