Frenkie de Jong resumed group training at FC Barcelona on Tuesday. The Dutchman, who suffered from a calf injury, can make his comeback on Wednesday in the home game with Espanyol.
The 23-year-old De Jong probably sustained the injury in the duel with Real Mallorca (0-4) on June 13. He had to be replaced just in time for minor complaints, but they had gotten worse in the days that followed.
The midfielder from Arkel therefore did not participate in the La Liga matches of FC Barcelona against Leganés, Sevilla, Athletic Club, Celta de Vigo, Atlético Madrid and Villarreal.
It is not yet known whether De Jong is also in the selection for the duel with Espanyol (kick-off Wednesday at 22:00). The Catalans can make good use of the Orange international in the battle for the league title; With four games to go, 'Barça' has four points less than league-leader Real Madrid.
