The pilot Ismael Bonilla died this Sunday at the age of 41 at the Jerez circuit due to an accident when he was a monitor in training sessions for fans. According to several witnesses, they told the magazine 'Todocircuito', his Yamaha R1 suffered a mechanical failure at the end of the finish straight and he left the track at very high speed.

Bonilla was one of the best-known riders in amateur motorcycling after having participated in almost all the known formulas: the 250cc European Championship, the Aprilia Cup, the Open Ducats, the RACE Trophy in recent times ... Most of his career was contested in the Spanish Speed Championship (CEV) where he went on to win the category of 4T single cylinder in 1994. The reputation he built in the CEV served him to be invited to several races of the 250cc World Cup between 1996 and 2001, in specifically to nine, four in Jerez, two in Montmeló, two in Cheste and one in Jarama.

On this track, his home, as he was a resident of Madrid, achieved perhaps the greatest milestone in his career as a pilot. In 1998, running alongside pilots such as a very young Valentino Rossi , Loris Capirossi or Alex Debón , he finished fifteenth, that is, he scored his only point in a very accidental career. In fact, he only finished ahead of the Argentine Federico Gartner , another regular of the wildcards of the time.

After her most competitive days, although she continued to contest tests, she focused on teaching tasks in various projects such as the Women Training Camp of the International Federation of Motorcycling (FIM). He also sponsored the career of Manuel González , current champion of the Supersport 300 World Championship within the Superbike World Championship, and made multiple articles for the magazine 'Formula Moto' as a motorcycle tester.
