Together with Radchenko, Dmitry Popov played in Racing at that time, and he also managed to distinguish himself in the confrontations with Real Madrid and Barcelona. He scored all his goals in the 1994/95 season. Already in the second round, the team of the Russian striker played at Camp Nou, and it was Popov who opened the scoring in the sixth minute. True, right after that, “Barcelona” equalized, and then won a victory.
In less than a month, the Racing ended up at the Santiago Bernabéu, and Popov scored again, having beautifully implemented a counterattack. True, this goal of his did not bring the team the desired result. The Russian striker only reduced the backlog, while Real Madrid won with a score of 3: 1.
But the meeting with the “Royal Club” in the second round went according to a completely different scenario. By the 25th round, “Real” literally rushed to victory in the championship of Spain and did not lose for 15 matches in a row, having missed only eight goals during this time. Then Karpin for many years moved to Spain and organized two more goals against the blue-garnet. The first was issued at the Camp Nou, where the Russian player arrived with Valencia. The second - already at the end of his career, when Karpin was a player at Real Sociedad. His exact blow could bring the Basques a victory, but in the end they had to be content with a productive draw (3: 3).
“Real” Karpin scored twice, as part of the same Spanish teams. In November 1996, he opened an account at Santiago Bernabeu, but the hat-trick of Davor Shuker and Raul's goal nullified the efforts of the Valencia striker. But seven years later, Karpin became the author of the victorious and only ball in the first round match of Real Sociedad.

Dmitry Cheryshev managed to score his first goal for Real Madrid under rather unusual circumstances - when the Madrid team played in the UEFA Cup. In the 1994/95 season, the striker almost brought victory to Dynamo Moscow in the first match of the second round, but the creamy ones still managed to get a draw, and defeated white-blue with a score 4-0 at home.
The next time Cheryshev excelled in the Gijon Sporting, but even then, in the 1996/97 season, Real Madrid was not embarrassed after his goal in the Spanish championship, eventually winning 3-1.
A year later, Cheryshev was able to excel at Camp Nou. His goal for Barcelona turned out to be extremely beautiful - the striker ran half the field and was able to equalize, but the Rivaldo double did not allow Dmitry to become the hero of that match.
