“This is an open letter from pure and honest athletes of our country. We cannot allow a repeat of the 2016 scenario, when we were deprived of participation in the Rio Olympics for mistakes made by a certain group of irresponsible persons. Collective responsibility cannot be allowed for the so-called Lysenko case, ”Isinbayeva wrote on Instagram.

In the text of the letter, Russian athletes ask for support and assistance in protecting their right to honest and open participation in competitions in the interests of pure sport. It is also indicated that discrimination on any grounds is unacceptable, as stated in the fundamental principles of the IOC.

Currently, the All-Russian Athletics Federation has been expelled from World Athletics due to the case of Daniil Lysenko. It is believed that the VFLA helped the athlete skip doping tests for no real reason. At present, Russian athletes can compete in major international competitions only in the status of neutral athletes.

Earlier it was reported that the VFLA has not yet resolved the issue of paying a fine to World Athletics.
