One of the most discussed topics in Russian figure skating was the appointment of Evgeni Plushenko to the post of coach of the national team. Some suggested that it will now bear even greater responsibility for the results of the team, while others did not see anything unusual in the incident.
“What nonsense? There are 50 trainers for the national team, including Plushenko, ”commented on the appointment of Eteri Tutberidze.
The president of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) Alexander Gorshkov hastened to clarify the situation. According to him, the mentor of each athlete who is part of the team automatically receives this status. Moreover, Plushenko’s special situation is out of the question.
Another well-known specialist, Canadian Brian Orser, got a new position. He entered the coaching staff of the Japanese Ricky Kihira. At the same time, Mie Hamada will remain her main mentor.
The Grand Prix winner is expected to arrive in Toronto in July after the restrictions on the coronavirus pandemic are lifted.
