The players' union, together with the clubs, has worked out an agreement whereby striking players will be punished with a pay cut during each match they skip, up to a maximum of 14 matches.

Several NBA players do not support the decision to restart the season. Partly because of the ongoing protests in the US, which began after the murder of George Floyd.

One of those who openly criticized the restart is Los Angeles Lakers Dwight Howard.

The NBA has not been played since March 11 due to the corona pandemic.
