The Interim Authority in charge of managing the affairs of the Iraqi Football Association announced today, Wednesday, the cancellation of the 2019-2020 season after its stumbling more than once, first because of the widespread demand protests, and then because of the outbreak of the new Corona virus.
The authority said only in a brief statement, "It was decided in agreement with the clubs to cancel the league competition for the season 2019-2020."
The commission has yet to determine the final ranking, and whether a champion will be crowned, or teams will drop to the second degree.
The league championship has faltered more than once this season, as its competitions were suspended early last October after widespread demand protests erupted in Baghdad and several cities in the south of the country.
After stopping for about four months, the championship resumed in February in a modified format, before stopping again in March due to "Covid-19".
