The AFC Champions League soccer wheel is getting close but it has to wait for the resumption of the local championships, said MCA Secretary General Daito Windsor John.
And some football tournaments in the world started to resume their activities after a stoppage that started last March due to the outbreak of the new Corona virus, but most leagues are still suspended.
"We are close to the return of football," the AFC Secretary General said, but added about the continental competition: "We must first wait for the return of all domestic leagues."
All AFC Champions League and club competition matches, the Confederation Cup, were suspended to the World Cup and Olympic Games qualifiers due to "Covid-19".
Of the 12 countries represented in the Champions League, South Korea was the only one to return to the stadiums, while four other championships return in June and July, and the Thai League is scheduled to return in September.
John said the continental union was "still in negotiations" over the date of the appeal, refusing to specify any date.
The AFC Champions League stopped four stages before the end of the group stage, which includes 32 teams.
The Champions League and Federation Cup final was scheduled for November.
And on whether the continental union will change the look and system of the two championships similar to holding a single match in the elimination roles instead of going back and forth to avoid infection, John said that the talks are still going on.
"We realize that stakeholders, including passionate fans and loyal sponsors, are eager for the return of Asian competitions."
"Our players are also excited to return to the stadium for the enjoyment of the fans. But as the AFC reiterated since the beginning of this pandemic, the health of all remains the top priority."
