May was a month without competitions for Daniel Ståhl, Armand Duplantis and the other Swedish world stars.

However, as of June 14, it is free for them, and all other adult athletes, to compete on Swedish soil. As an elite athlete, with athletics as a profession, they are allowed to travel as they please in Sweden.

"Will be a lot of athletics"

However, for all other athletes, who train and compete for fun and have a different profession, the usual restrictions apply with a maximum of two hours drive. That means it can be a different competition summer for a lot of athletes.

- I think it will be a lot of athletics, if we talk about the number of competitions. But we must note that the small scale will apply. We will start this work a little more actively now and see how we can handle the messages we have received. But my feeling is that there will be many competitions, but small-scale and to a lesser extent, says the Swedish Athletics Association's general secretary Stefan Olsson to SVT Sport.

- I got the idea that you will be reviewing the general travel recommendations in the coming weeks, but the most important thing for us is that the highest elite, who have it as a profession, have the opportunity to travel. But otherwise we can start at the more regional level where this can work.

"More youth competitions than usual"

Olsson sees it as a possibility that new, local, athletics competitions will now be planned - which may not have been planned before.

- It is one of the scenarios that we can now see coming. And already in the month of May, we have had significantly more youth competitions on the youth side than usual due to this small scale with smaller competitions. And they have had more participants than usual, in fact. So that could be a scenario even for adult sports, he says.
