Dele Alli played cards with friends when the robbers struck early Wednesday morning. The robbers were armed with a knife and Alli and his brother received "minor facial injuries" but did not have to go to hospital, police say in a statement. No one has been arrested yet, but a preliminary investigation has been initiated.

Alli thanked for the support on social media.

“Thanks for all the messages. Horrible experience but we all feel good. Appreciate the support, ”he writes.

Tottenham will start training next week ahead of a possible re-start of the Premier League in June. PL has been on pause since the coronavirus outbreak.

Earlier in the season, two players in Arsenal, Mesut Özil and Sead Kolasinac, were also subjected to a well-known robbery attempt.
