Giovanni Malago, president of the Italian Olympic Committee (Cuneo), estimated Thursday at "99%" the chances of seeing the football championship start again on June 13, the date fixed the day before by the League. "From 1 to 100, how much do I estimate the possibilities that Serie A will resume on June 13? I think 99%, "said Malago on Rai radio.

“Everything is done to start again, to put the system in a position to start again. On the other hand, if you ask me what are the chances that the championship will end once relaunched, there you need a crystal ball, "he relativized.

On Wednesday, the League indicated that it wanted to resume the championship on June 13, stopped on March 9 by the coronavirus pandemic. The government has yet to make a decision on this, but remains very cautious about a resumption of competition. Sports Minister Vincenzo Spadafora, however, gave the green light to a resumption on May 18 of collective training. Individual sessions resumed on May 4.

The quarantine issue

The most delicate point on the road to a possible resumption of competition concerns the obligation made to clubs to put their entire workforce in quarantine for 15 days, as well as the staff, as soon as a positive case appears.

"I don't know why they made this decision, I hear it is a decision that can still be reviewed, but I don't want to get into these considerations," said Mr. Malago about the choice made by the Technical and Scientific Committee which advises the government on the management of the coronavirus crisis.

"What is certain is that they are serious people and that undoubtedly, between a more restrictive option and another more flexible one, they wanted to privilege the protection of the country", added the president of Cuneo.
