“We are not luring or promoting”: what is known about the conflict between Plushenko and choreographer Tutberidze over the transition of Trusova

It has been several days since the bronze medalist of the European Championships Alexander Trusova left the coaching staff of Eteri Tutberidze and became a student of Evgeni Plushenko. This event greatly shocked the world of figure skating and provoked another round of conflict between the former and current teams of the young athlete. Choreographer of the group Tutberidze Alexey Zheleznyakov and Plushenko began to sort things out in public space, exchanging a number of loud and emotional statements.

Immediately after it became known about Trusova’s departure from Tutberidze, Zheleznyakov shared his opinion with the fans on this subject. On his VKontakte page, he talked about how important it is to be grateful to his coach for the years spent together, and said that he would never leave his team, even if he had received a generous offer.

“I remember who I came to this team, just a young man, a beautifully dancing young man, and who I am now, thanks to Tutberidze. Yes, I worked a lot on myself, a lot, but how many of us there are. If not for this team, I would not be who I am now! Offer me at least a million dollars, I will stay on this team until I retire and my limbs will no longer work as they do now. There is such a word - gratitude. Always remember this. And time, life and higher powers will judge us all, ”wrote Zheleznyakov.

Soon the choreographer clarified his words. In an interview with Sport-Express, he criticized Trusova’s prospects under the leadership of a new mentor and said that Plushenko was engaged in “luring” athletes into his training group. Also, in a comment on his VKontakte entry, he bluntly stated that he considered the athlete’s departure “betrayal”.

“The whole Tutberidze team sits on the ice rink for almost 24 hours, no personal life, nothing, they plow like Papa Carlo, put everything that is possible and impossible into children. And the teenager with his parents turns around and leaves, without notifying anyone of the word at all, and in particular - the main mentor. And we all at a meeting can calmly hug and ask each other how things are, how life is. And here is the glaring fact of complete disrespect, it’s called sticking a knife in the back, ”Zheleznyakov figuratively expressed his vision of the situation.

Plushenko did not stay away from the latest statements of the choreographer and responded to several of his remarks on his Instagram. So, the two-time Olympic champion did not like the words of Zheleznyakov that he “respects those coaches who plow and educate students, and do not weave intrigues and lure athletes”.

“Again we do not touch anyone, the tenth wheel from the cart again rolled out and opened its mouth!” - said Plushenko.

The former athlete was also outraged by the fact that Zheleznyakov, following Tutberidze, unsubscribed from Trusova on Instagram.

“The case when no one noticed the loss! Team Tutberidze, reassure your funny employee! " - the 37-year-old specialist reacted.

Further, Plushenko’s attention was attracted by Zheleznyakov’s quote that he could turn to Tutberidze for staging programs for Trusova.

Another portion of sarcasm against Zheleznyakov was caused by his statement that he received generous offers from some foreign figure skating schools that offered good working conditions, but he refused them for the sake of cooperation with Tutberidze.

“And this is generally a masterpiece! Poor fellow, what do you smoke? ” - said Plushenko.

Finally, the two-time Olympic champion summed up his dive with Zheleznyakov and admitted that he could no longer respond to the accusations against him.

“We do not touch anyone, we do not lure, and even more so we do not PR on such topics! I was silent for a long time, but this is already too much, “friends”! ” - said the trainer in his final message.

This is not the first time that Plushenko and Zheleznyakov clashed in public space. Prior to this, a dispute arose between them over a pause in Alina Zagitova’s career. The choreographer then supported Tutberidze, who stated that Plushenko cannot be called a coach and that he did not educate any of his athletes.
