Angel Merkel and the Länder prime ministers give the green light at the start of the Bundesliga, after the meeting they held to discuss the phases in the return to normality in Germany. Although they did not need a fixed date, the German tournament will return in the second week of May, provided that the trend of the pandemic does not compel otherwise.

The chancellor herself announced it after the teleconference with regional leaders, most interested in the return of football. They did not specify, however, if the tournament will return on May 15 or 23. The first date is the one handled by the most optimistic. Most team technicians are supporters of the second, as that way they would have more time to train. The Bundesliga has nine days remaining to finish, two less than the Spanish League. That date may very well happen on Thursday, when the League Assembly meets.

The authorities insisted that the return must comply with the strict security regulations transferred, which imply limited areas in the stadiums to a maximum of 300 people, the only ones that could be in this closed-door model. Players will pass weekly tests and always the day before the matches. If they are positive, they will be isolated.

Merkel is in favor of observing how football works in this comeback to make decisions about other sports.
