• Women's Soccer: Barça, champion

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has decided this Wednesday that the competition in Second B and Third will be resolved through promotion playoffs in a single neutral venue and without decreases , which for the next season will cause there to be five groups in the third national category, instead of the usual four.

In the meeting held by Luis Rubiales with the territorial federations these decisions were agreed, the first reflection of which will be the cancellation of the regular phases . In other words, those who are not in the top four of their group in Second B and Third will not compete again until next season.

In Second B, as Cadena Ser has advanced, the structure of the promotion phase remains, with the difference that it will be in a single game and in a single venue without deciding and, of course , behind closed doors . In this way, the four champions (Atlético Baleares, Logroñés, Castellón and Cartagena) will face each other by draw. The winners of the two games will advance to the Second Division and the losers will re-engage in the playoff, which will play second, third and fourth.

In Third, the usual promotion system is altered, which will be territorial, that is, one team from each group will ascend . The top four of the 18 groups will face each other in a unique venue within their community. They will play first against fourth and second against third to reach a final that will decide which of them ascends. The decisions on the regional categories will depend on each of the regional and autonomous federations.

In the absence of concrete details, this decision by the RFEF will cause that next season there will be at least 98 teams in Second B (there could be 100), which will be distributed in five groups. The idea of creating an intermediate category between Second and Second B is postponed until the 2021/22 season, in which, after today's meeting, it seems more than likely that this project will see the light with two groups of 20 teams.

This proposal is, in any case, at the expense of receiving the approval of the Ministry of Health . One of the main problems to carry it out is the CSD protocol, economically unfeasible for most teams that will be involved in these phases of promotion, so the RFEF is obliged to seek solutions if it wants its proposal to be carried out. .
