The Tour of Spain will close the cycling season - JAVIER LIZON / EFE / SIPA

The UCI has unveiled its condensed calendar to save the 2020 cycling season, interrupted due to coronavirus. The recovery will take place in August with the program three months and wheelbarrows competition that will lead the peloton to the Vuelta in early November. A schedule in the form of a puzzle for runners and sports directors as the events overlap: the Worlds with the end of the Tour, the classics with the Giro and this same Giro with the Vuelta. In short, a happy mess in perspective.

The UCI clarified, however, that these dates "remain naturally subject to the lifting, until the end of the season, of the restrictions established by the competent authorities".

Together with the representatives from the professional peloton, I'm proud that we have united to deliver viable UCI WT and @UCI_WWT calendars, starting from Aug 1st.

We will continue to closely monitor the global health situation. More info https://t.co/go0LxekwMb pic.twitter.com/eBQmk2hJfQ

In terms of major dates to remember, there are therefore:

  • Strade Bianche (resumption of the season), August 1
  • The Tour de France, from August 29 to September 20
  • The Road Cycling World Championships, September 20-27
  • Le Giro, from October 3 to 25
  • Paris-Roubaix, October 25
  • La Vuelta, from October 20 to November 8

Regarding Paris-Roubaix, it should be noted that the classic will welcome the women's peloton for the first time on October 25.
