“The recent cooperation between the leadership of our organizations only strengthened my confidence that a single sport is a sure way to maximize our potential and optimally present it to viewers in the stands, in television broadcasts and on the Internet. In this regard, I support the opinion of the players. Tennis is always at the forefront when it comes to uniting men and women in major tournaments - this is one of our strengths that distinguishes us from many other sports. We look forward to continued collaboration and discussions with WTA and other interested parties in all aspects of our business, ”Tennis World USA quoted ATP CEO Andrea Gaudenzi as saying.

WTA chief Steve Simon, in turn, said he was pleased to have regular contacts with the Asia-Pacific region in recent weeks.

“It has long been said that we will make our sport better if we work together, and recent weeks have confirmed this fact,” Simon said.

ATP and WTA were created in 1972 and 1973 to protect and represent the interests of professional tennis players.

It was previously reported that ATP and WTA will extend the pause due to coronavirus until August 3.
