Veteran Spanish star Andres Iniesta said he does not intend to end his football career in the near future, in an interview he had with the official website of his former club, Barcelona, on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old midfielder was speaking from his home in the Japanese city of Kobe, exactly two years after winning his last title with Barcelona, and a week after the release of his documentary: Andres Iniesta - the unexpected hero.

Asked if he could make the decision to retire, Iniesta said: "I still see it as something far away. I feel good physically and mentally ... and I have a lot of passion."

Iniesta moved to Vesel Kobe in May 2018, and decided to stop his second season with the club, after suspending the Japanese League competition after only one stage of his life due to the outbreak of the new Corona virus.

"We are at home, following instructions and hoping for a return to daily activity and normalcy," Iniesta added.

"We took the opportunity to spend a lot of time with the family, which is something that we usually do not have."

"The situation here is calm in Japan because the numbers are not high," the Spanish star said, referring to Coruna's injuries.
