Life returns, sport returns, but when? While the Plan of Desescalada presented this Tuesday by the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, delimited the times under which the football league will return, amateur practice was in a nebula. When will I be able to train on the tracks? And go to the pool? And to the gym? And play tennis? And to paddle tennis? And organize a basketball or soccer pachanga with friends? There are many doubts about the process, including in the Higher Sports Council (CSD) itself, but also several certainties. "We have adopted two criteria. First, if the sport is individual or by teams and second, if it is practiced outdoors or indoors. Those two criteria determine whether they are in one phase or another," they point out from the Government. The doubts that can be cleared are the following:

Phase 0: Athletics, cycling, skating or surfing

Sports that can be practiced on the street or on the road, without contact and individually will be the first to benefit. They will enter phase 0 of the de-escalation, although as the President of the Government has already determined, they will not have to wait for Monday 4: they can start on Saturday 2. The De-escalation Plan resolves two questions that the fans kept since Pedro Sánchez's announcement last Saturday. Yes, you can ride a bike. And yes, the mask will be recommended. It should be used "when possible", specifies the document. The text points to surfing as an example, although the beaches will continue to be closed, which could open the door to practitioners of swimming in the open sea or even, as in Italy, of water sports such as sailing, paddle surfing. ..

Phase 1: Tennis, gymnastics or martial arts without contact

In phase 1 the uncertainties begin. There is only one clear point: the outdoor facilities will be reopened for individual sports without contact, that is, the athletics or tennis courts. Outdoor pools could fall into this category, but according to the CSD that is a detail still to be studied. The document specifies that at the same time sports centers can be opened by appointment without contact and without using the changing rooms, but it is not yet the time for the gyms. It would be from the practice of gymnastics, martial arts such as karate and little else. It is a measure to open the High Performance Centers that could benefit fans of those specialties, although it has yet to be determined.

Phase 2: Swimming and "low risk" sports

Phase 2 is the most unspecific for non-professional sport. It contemplates the opening of closed facilities without public and for "sports in which there is no contact or the risk of contagion is low." Considering what is a low risk of contagion is a task for which CSD requires time. "We must bear in mind that to reach this stage there are still several weeks left," they accept, although it is understood that prudence will be the keynote. For example, futsal or basketball games are unlikely to be accepted. The paddle? Could be. In any case, the opening of covered swimming pools could be allowed, although in these cases the Town Halls will have a lot to say.

Phase 3: The moment of the gyms

In phase 3, it is accepted that the public joins in a very limited way if there are some type of sports competitions specified above - another measure designed for professional sports. In this measure, we only talk about stands, but from the Government it is specified that the gyms will also enter. They will open without the possibility of using the changing rooms and with a third of the capacity. With this, it is assumed that the rest of sports, that is, those that are practiced by teams and with contact such as soccer or basketball, should be left after the de-escalation, that is, for the so-called 'new normality'.
