The coming season does not require clubs to pay a transitional fee and in addition, clubs will be allowed to move matches without being liable for payment. The elite license, which would have been introduced for the 2021/2022 season, will not be introduced until the following season.

The decision to cut expenses and introduce other measures was taken by the Swedish Basketball Association together with the women's and men's basketball league.

"It means a certain loss of revenue for the union, but we believe that we can handle this in the short term, especially for the associations with the smallest financial margins, this is very important," Secretary-General Johan Stark told the union's website.

One of the biggest costs that is removed is the match commissioners, who have the task of keeping track of the secretariat and the judges. Thus, the main judge will be given a greater responsibility next season.

- There are risks with it so clearly, but right now we need to temporarily do what we can, says competition manager Olle Lundén.

Lundén, who has a dialogue with the clubs, says that many clubs were hit hard financially by the corona crisis.

- There is no talk that it is an extremely tough situation for many right now.

The solutions are temporary and only apply to the 2020/21 season. In addition, the union will continue to review several alternative solutions.
