The head of the FIFA Medical Committee, Belgian Michael Dejoj, warned against the return of soccer competitions before next September (as an initial date), while calling for more patience.

This came in statements made by Dahog to the "Sake Sports" network, during which he expressed a position opposing the idea of an early return to football tournaments, as happens in the German Bundesliga, or the English "Premier League" after announcing their intention to return early next June.

The head of the medical committee said: "The world is currently not ready for the return of football competitions. I hope this reality will change soon, but we need more patience."

The 74-year-old added: "The current situation is the most dramatic for us since the Second World War, and we have to be realistic, so the practice of the ball will be possible, if the contact becomes a natural thing again."

The Belgian doctor stressed the need to wait until the conditions are safe, and pointed out that this may happen in the event of an "appropriate vaccination program, to counter the coronavirus."
