An official of the International Football Federation (FIFA) suggested that the outbreak of the Coruna virus would cause some amendments to the law of the game and punish the players for the behavior they used to do in the stadiums.

Referees may have to show the yellow card to the player who spits on the field when football matches around the world resume.

The move aims to prevent the spread of the emerging corona virus, which has disrupted soccer activity around the world since the middle of last month.

"Spitting is a common practice in football, but it is totally unhealthy," the British Daily Mail newspaper quoted Michael Dehug, head of FIFA's medical committee, as saying.

"When we start spherical activity again, I think we should avoid this completely, the question is if it is possible then the yellow card may be announced."

He pointed out that spitting would contribute to the spread of the virus, and players should be prevented from doing it during the upcoming games in order to avoid spreading the infection between them.

Dehog considered that the priority now must be to preserve the health and safety of everyone, and did not hide his opposition to the resumption of football matches before next September to avoid a second wave of the spread of the virus, which has so far killed more than 210 thousand people around the world.
