The French Football League has become the first major league to be officially annulled due to the outbreak of the new Corona virus (Covid-19).

French Prime Minister Eduard Philippe announced today, Tuesday, new decisions to ease the restrictions imposed weeks ago in the country due to the Corona outbreak, with the easing to start from May 11.

Contrary to the aspirations of football fans, the soccer matches did not include mitigation, as the French official announced the cancellation of the remaining matches of the current season of the first and second domestic league, provided that the football activity will resume from next September in the matches of the new season 2020-2021.

The French League has become the first of the five major leagues that ends without completing its matches, pending a decision in the future of the England, Spain, Italy and Germany leagues.

The cancellation decision is expected to find opposition from many clubs due to the large economic losses that the teams will incur, and will put the French Football Association in front of complications with sponsors and broadcasters.

According to French media, the French Football Association will later decide on the fate of the title and the identity of the teams to be lowered, the teams involved in the Champions League and European Champions League for the next season.
