The South Korean Football League announced Friday that the championship season in 2020 will start on May 8 without an audience, after being behind schedule for more than two months because of Corona.

The season's games were scheduled to start on the 29th of last February, but the championship in which 12 teams participated is postponed due to the spread of the new Corona virus, while the decision comes today at a time when the country seems to control the spread of the virus.

The championship said in a statement after a meeting of its board of directors that defending champion Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors will meet in the opening match of the season with its guest Suwon Blue Wings.

In line with the rules of social separation established by the Korean government, it was decided to hold matches for the early stages of the season behind closed doors without an audience.

Each team will play 27 rounds, not 38 rounds as scheduled, while the bottom of the ranking will drop to the second division league, whose matches will start on the eighth of next month as well.

In the event that a player or a member of any of the technical teams of any team is infected with the virus, this team will not play the next match at least two weeks ago.
