According to Metropolitan, the local news site which disclosed the information before the club's press release, this player, whose name he does not give, has been tested positive for coronavirus. Initially hospitalized in the emergency department of Lunel (Hérault), he was transferred for two days to intensive care in Montpellier.

Junior Samba, a versatile midfielder, arrived in 2017 from Niort. He is playing his third season in Montpellier, where he has never acquired a titular status. If Junior Sambia's contamination is officially confirmed, he would be the first Ligue 1 player affected by the coronavirus. The South Korean Hyun-jun Suk, who plays in Troyes in Ligue 2, had become in March the first professional footballer officially positive for coronavirus in France.
