Belgian virology and epidemiologist Marc van Rannst, who is being hired by his country's government in the face of the dangers of the new Corona virus epidemic, has proposed to his country's footballers to use gags during domestic league matches if activity resumes.

"One way to look is to wear masks while playing soccer," Van Rannst told the Belgian newspaper Le Soir.

"Of course, there is no doubt that the masks worn by surgeons are not appropriate at all. There are on the Internet, anti-pollution masks that can be worn by American football players or cyclists. It is more comfortable."

The Belgian Football League decided last week to postpone the decision to end the current season under pressure from the European Union for the game, which threatened to deprive its clubs of continental participation next season.

Club Bruges were leading the league 15 points ahead of Ghent and 16 against Charleroi before the suspension of the league matches until April 30.

On Friday, April 24, the general assembly is expected to hold a meeting to decide the fate of the season.

On Tuesday, the Belgian government banned "mass activities" until August 31, suggesting the start of the next season behind closed doors.
