When will we see NBA players on the American courts and above all, will they succeed in completing the 2019-2020 fiscal year? NBA boss Adam Silver knows little more about it than you and we do. The latter said on Monday that he would not make a decision on whether to continue or cancel the season until May, given the uncertainty surrounding the evolution of the coronavirus in North America.

"We should just accept that, at least for the month of April, we will not be able to make decisions," Silver said to Ernie Johnson, the presenter of TNT who interviewed him live on Twitter . "And I don't think that necessarily means that we will be on May 1," he added.

The NBA suspended its season until further notice on the evening of March 11, after French pivot Rudy Gobert (Utah Jazz) was the first player in the League to test positive for Covid-19. Since then, around fifteen other League players have also contracted the virus.

Resume or go directly to the play-offs?

The NBA regular season was scheduled to end on April 15 and the playoffs to begin on April 18, culminating in the finals in early June. Given the impossibility of predicting how the coronavirus pandemic will evolve and even less when it could be contained, Silver said that no decision had been made as to whether to go after the regular season, either a month of matches, or if the season were to start directly at the play-offs stage. Two scenarios which are the subject of multiple speculations in the press, as well as the prospect of a cancellation of the season, impossible to overlook.
