Sollentuna GP is suspended - sightings in August

Sollentuna GP, part of the Folksam Grand Prix, offers the audience a chance to see the best Swedish athletes against top international competition.

SVT Sport can now reveal that this year's edition has been postponed.

Instead of June 16 this summer, we hope to be able to complete the competition in the first half of August.

- June 16 feels a little premature given all the restrictions right now, but we hope that it will open in August. We haven't made a new date yet, says project manager Ulf Saletti.

The gala in Karlstad on July 8 is still on its scheduled date, as is the gala in Gothenburg on August 19.

- Yes, they remain as planned so far, says Saletti and continues:

- For Sollentuna, we have to wait and see what the dates of the Bauhaus gala and the Diamond League competitions are because they are given priority in the first place. But we hope to find a date in the first half of August.

SVT owns the TV rights to the Folksam Grand Prix and will broadcast the gala in Sollentuna despite the date change.

The main reason for the competition being postponed is the restrictions applied in Sweden as well as other countries due to the spread of the coronavirus.

- On the one hand, we cannot have gatherings that are large, and on the other hand, athletes from different countries cannot travel here. We have always hoped that this will calm down before June, but in the end we came to a limit when we had to make this decision.
