A member of the Executive Board of the International Football Federation, Eng. Hani Aburaida, announced his intention to run in the elections for the Egyptian Federation Presidency of the game scheduled this summer.

Abu Raida said in televised comments: "I will run the Egyptian Football Association elections in the presidential seat, and I will have a group of young men who will appear for the first time in the sports field, along with a number of other members who worked with me in the resigned council."

Aburaida had submitted his resignation last July, along with his board members after the Pharaohs left the round of 16 for the African Nations Championship that his country hosted, and it was said at the time that the Egyptian Federation was forced to submit his resignation because of this failure.

And Abu Raida's move to ignite the early struggle for the Egyptian Football Association elections comes after the announcement of the former international goalkeeper and the current journalist Ahmed Schubert to run in the presidential elections.

Relations between Aburaida and his former deputy, Ahmed Shoubir, witnessed public differences, after the latter held in televised meetings, Aburaida, responsible for the failure of the national team in the nations of Africa as the direct responsible for the affairs of the Egyptian team.

Aburaida added: "There is no decision by the Egyptian state to prevent him from contesting the Football Association elections for any position, denying what was reported that he was forced to submit his last resignation."

He explained: "I submitted my resignation voluntarily after the anger of the fans at the results of the national team in the African Nations Championship, and it was not acceptable to continue in light of this mass anger, and the media as well."

Aburaida stressed his welcome for the candidacy of any candidate to run for the Football Federation’s position as President, stressing that the General Assembly is the first and last right to choose whoever he deems fit to lead the helm of Egyptian football in the next four years.

On the Egyptian scene, it is reported that the former international player, Ahmed Hossam "Mido", intends to run for the position of President of the Federation, accompanied by a group of former international players.
