The official world record was set by Finnish Hans Mäenpää when he traveled 472 kilometers in April 2018.

A few days ago, the brothers Jörgen and Anders Aukland, together with Joar Thele, set an unofficial world record. The Norwegian ski trio ran 516 kilometers, according to GPS, in 31.5 hours.

- A world record on how far skiing is must be specified very carefully. In principle, measuring tape must be measured with tape measure, said Magnar Dalen, team leader in Team Ragde Eiendom.

"I'm very happy now"

But the unofficial world record no longer applies. Norwegian Henrik Sollie, 45, has broken the record.

According to NRK, Sollie went 520 kilometers on skis. He drove for 32 hours.

"Now I'm very happy," Sollie told NRK.

Have received criticism

Brothers Aukland and Thele received criticism for their record. Several voices were raised because they did not think they would be exposed to such extreme challenges, especially during the corona eruption.

- There is nothing to indicate that it is dangerous to exercise. Counseling is still 30-60 minutes of activity three to five days a week. But if it is wise for ordinary people to be inspired by these long journeys now, the answer is no, says sports doctor Lars Engebretsen according to NRK.
