It is a tradition for STCC to start this year's series at Skåne Ring Knutstorp. But the race, which was scheduled for May 15-16, will be postponed. The goal is for the championship to get rid and run later in the year.

- We will run the competition. The question is just when and how. But we have to go out and go for the sake of everyone. That you set completely, there is not on the map. says Fredrik Lestrup, team manager for Lestrup Racing Team.

Get up again

After the bankruptcy in March 2019, the last season became a middle year. Now it was intended that STCC would rise up and re-offer high-class motor competitions.

Then the coronavirus came and smashed the calendar.

- This is like a horror movie. Who could have thought that the world would shut down for three months? says Magnus Öhrström, CEO of Ring Knutstorp.

But behind the scenes there has been a frenetic discussion between STCC, the promoter, the teams and the support classes.

Not without an audience

Many teams feared that they would try to run competitions without crowds. Such information has circulated.

- You can't do it without an audience. It is better to wait and implement it properly. It will come some time after the corona, says Fredrik Lestrup.

For many teams, the economy is based on selling customer activities in conjunction with the race Now everyone is waiting for a message from STCC when the series may start.

- If we move the competition, I want to move it to this fall, says Magnus Öhrström.

- Earlier this summer I think you should start and then we run every other weekend until October, says Fredrik Lestrup.

Message is coming soon, perhaps already after the Easter weekend.

Despite the postponement of the launch, new drivers were announced today. Both Robert Dahlgren and Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky return and run another season for PWR Racing.

In addition, more drivers will be on their way in.
