Deprived of stadium, French ultras are multiplying the solidarity initiatives for the personnel in first line care against the coronavirus, offering comfort and a platform to these "forgotten of yesterday" become "the heroes of today". Supporters of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 did not wait for the health crisis to do their bounty, but the momentum spurred on for several days by all the groups is bursting on the screen, in the media and on social networks.

Pools and even mask deliveries

Cagnottes have been set up all over France, support banners have been displayed in front of hospitals and distributions of pizzas, pastries or fruit juices have been organized, with supporting photos. The Collective Ultras Paris (CUP) is thus flooding its Twitter feed with images of caregivers working at the hospital or in an Ehpad brandishing PSG scarves, with foodstuffs by their side.

"Since the crisis started, there are about twenty people who are involved, and five or six who are really very active," said a member. "Our team at the moment is no longer PSG, it is the nurses". In Marseille, where ultras groups have traditionally had social and charitable activities, the South Winners 87, for example, distributed 2,800 masks to different hospitals in the city. Further north, the Merlus Ultra have launched a collection of donations of protective masks, aprons, overcoats, glasses, gloves or even gel for the CHU de Lorient.

The prize pool set up by @CelticUltras to pay tribute to the heroes in the Brest medical services has reached € 5,700 since its launch. 💪💪💪

The Bretons have also launched an online kitty, as did the Loire Brigade (Nantes), Celtic Ultra (Brest), the Indians Tolosa (Toulouse), Coeur Grenat (Metz), the Ultramarines (Bordeaux) or the Roazhon Celtic Kop (Rennes).

"This gesture will not save life, but on our scale allows us to be actors, and shows all our support for hospital staff", explain the Red and Black, with this maxim: "Forgotten from yesterday, they are the today's heroes. "

Caregivers "mistreated, underpaid"

With this shocking slogan, the people of Rennes carry a message which unites the community of ultra French people, united in a low-valued profession, often poorly paid and yet the guarantor of a quality health system. "For too long, the nursing staff of the Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris and the hospitals of Ile-de-France have suffered from deplorable working conditions", writes the CUP, calling to bring "all the support and strength they deserve. "

We, Ultramarines, send a special message of support to healthcare staff and all those affected by this crisis.
In these difficult times, let us remain responsible and united.

Same speech in Saint-Etienne. "The current match does not take place on a green rectangle, but indeed in our hospitals, our EPHAD, our nursing homes ... which have too often been neglected," say the Green Angels. In Grenoble (L2), the ultras launched a solidarity fund for "ill-treated, underpaid, lack of resources to work in good conditions". Nearly 20,000 euros had been collected on Friday to "improve their daily comfort".

Green Angels set up a kitty ...
Solidarity is a fundamental value of the Stéphane mentality!
Every action counts ...
Thank you in advance to those who will participate!

Solidarity was also displayed via banners placed on the walls of hospitals or health centers in Bordeaux and Saint-Etienne. "The green angels support the white blouses," could be read on the Stéphanois side.

In mid-March, ultras from Sochaux-Montbéliard (L2) also made themselves “available” to associations for shopping for the elderly or even babysitting the children of nursing staff. They also set up a kitty to finance meals for Belfort-Montbéliard hospital workers, with this message: "Generosity, solidarity and mutual aid are three key words of our supporting culture: let's take action".
