The Asian Karate Federation decided yesterday to postpone the Asian championships for men, women, youth under 21 and young men, which were scheduled to be held in the current year 2020, with a decision to reschedule these tournaments, and to set subsequent dates for their establishment, so that they do not exceed October of next year 2021 .

The President of the Asian Karate Federation, President of the Emirati Federation, Major General Nasser Abdel Razzaq Al-Razouki, said in a press statement to the Continental Federation: “The decision to postpone all the continent's tournaments for all its Sunni stages and for both sexes, comes due to the current health conditions in all countries of the continent due to the outbreak of the Corona virus (Covid - 19), and based on the information provided by the World Health Organization, in light of the rapid spread of this virus, which turned into a global pandemic ».

Al-Razouqi added: “The decision to postpone was taken with the approval of all members, provided that all the tournaments that were scheduled for 2020 are rescheduled, and new dates are set for them to be completed and as a maximum in October 2021.” He concluded: "The Asian Confederation went to inform all the national federations of member states, postponing the major events for 2020, and the impossibility of holding tournaments because there are not enough guarantees for players, workers and the public."

It is noteworthy that the Asian Championship for Youth and Young Men was scheduled to be held in Kuwait from 10 to 12 July, then the Adult Championship in the Indonesian city of Bali from 4 to 6 September, but the recent decisions of the Continental Federation prompted the postponement of the tournaments until next year.

The continental union will set new dates for this year’s championships, and not to exceed October of next year.
