The Bundesliga was suspended until at least April 30, but Borussia Mönchengladbach's fans already have a plan in place for when it can be played again, even if it is behind closed doors. In the next few days, the Gladbach fans will be able to purchase a cardboard image of them for 19 euros, which will help them to 'virtual' attend the matches.

"We will be the first club to bring a little life to the stadium," said the managers of Fanprojekt Mönchengladbach (FPMG), a curious initiative that aims to breathe even more encouragement to the team led by Marco Rose.

Both the cardboard cutouts and the 'real' replicas of the fans, made of "weatherproof plastic" will be made by two small companies in Mönchengladbach that had been forced to close because of the Covid-19.

"Exactly where they are"

"For the first home game without an audience, we will ensure that the effigies are placed exactly where the fans are," added FPMG officials, who aim to fill the more than 50,000 seats at Borussia Park.

Gladbach, ranked fourth in the Bundesliga, was one of the pioneering clubs in Europe in taking action against the coronavirus. On March 19, its footballers accepted a voluntary reduction in salary so that the club could face the payrolls of its staff.

Solidarity seems to have penetrated the Bundesliga, where last week, its four clubs that participated in the Champions League (Bayern, Dortmund, Red Bull Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen) took the first measures for an aid fund in favor of those most affected by the pandemic.
