Brazil has announced its intention to convert the famous Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro into a temporary hospital, as part of efforts to combat the Corona Virus.

The Brazilian press stated that the stadium, which usually hosts the matches of the country's national team, will be converted into a temporary hospital with a capacity of 400 beds, and will be designated for "Corona" patients.

Other departments, such as a car park, will also be used as hospital warehouses and logistical centers.

Among those who died from their coronavirus infection was former Olympique Marseille club president Babi Diouf, 68.

The club announced the news of the death of its former boss yesterday, via his Twitter account, in a tweet in which he said, "With great sadness, Olympique Marseille has learned of the death of Babi Diouf, and will remain in the heart of Marseille forever as one of the most prominent people in the history of the club. We send our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones."

Diouf, who is a journalist and agent for former players, assumed the presidency of Marseille from 2005 to 2009, at which time the team finished twice in the French League, and reached the League Cup final twice and lost on both occasions.
