The cost of adding one year to the Tokyo Olympics is estimated to be about 7 trillion won.

Organizing Chairman Yoshiro Mori, Tokyo Olympics, appeared on Yomiuri TV on the 28th and aimed at the IOC, saying that Japan cannot afford it all.

Chairman Mori said, "The IOC is not willing to pay as much as possible." He said, "The IOC is also responsible."

When the opening of the Tokyo Olympics was confirmed on July 23, next year, IOC Chairman Bach virtually acknowledged the additional cost incurred by the one year delay.

[Thomas Bach / IOC Chair: Postponing for one year is a huge burden and unprecedented. Athlete villages, the heart of the Olympics, should also find a good solution.]

However, it did not say whether the IOC would share the cost of KRW 7 trillion.

The IOC provides grants to the venues at each Olympic Games, and the total amount to the Tokyo Organizing Committee is $ 1.3 billion, which is less than $ 230 million less than during the Rio Olympics.

Japan is either inviting the IOC to significantly increase the funding or to share the cost of the deferral, but it is unclear whether the IOC will accept it.
