The swimming profile Maja Reichard would have been the host. But because of illness she also had to stay home. Instead, the solution was that Reichard called the winners of the year and gave them the message. The reaction was filmed and then played during the webcast.

Sailor Fia Fjelddahl, 20, was very surprised when last year she took the World Cup bronze in the highest international competition, in an open senior championship for both men and women with and without disabilities. For the achievement, she was named female athlete of the year.

- I did not believe! I'm shocked. I talked to a reporter a week and a half ago and then he asked "what do you think the chances are?" And then I said that those I compete with have done very good results. I'm completely speechless, she says when Reichard calls in the middle of a workout.

For the second year in a row, cross-country skier Zebastian Modin was named male athlete of the year. The 25-year-old won the overall World Cup for the third year in a row and then ended the season with a World Cup gold and a World Cup silver in Canada.

- I was surprised and I am probably as a person that if I make a good run on skis or get such a nice award, I am probably not the one who responds most directly, but for me it will be a little more afterwards. It's always very nice when people appreciate what you do, so this means a lot, says Modin.
