Karin Torneklint has been the Swedish national team for the athletics team since 2013. The agreement with the athletics association would have expired after the summer's planned Olympic Games.

But changes in the outside world have changed the conditions. The 52-year-old remains at his post over the 2021 Olympics.

- It feels good actually. It didn't feel good to have ended up with a big coronary bang just. It feels good to be able to continue and have full confidence in it.

How has the talk gone and the discussion been?

- When things were canceled, it did not feel good to stop and hand over something that is very uncertain and chaos. I would like to make another Olympics, as it was intended, and announced it to the Board and Stefan (Olsson, Secretary General of Swedish Athletics). They thought it was a good solution and they also thought it was good with some continuity in this strange situation. We all agreed so it was good to have the chance.

The idea is still that she will end her career as a national team captain after the championship. The union starts the recruitment process after Karin Torneklint's replacement in the spring of 2021.

- Karin is very appreciated and has a great support in the national team so it feels very good that we have come up with this solution. It has also been important that Karin really wants and has the energy and commitment required and that confirmation I have also received, ”says Stefan Olsson, Secretary General of Swedish Athletics.
