Since 1950, the Swedish rally has been run in the forests of Warmland and is the only winter competition in the World Cup. But due to a lack of snow in recent years, it has begun to consider whether the competition must be moved north.

Thus, four municipalities from Norrbotten are relevant, where snow safety is higher than in Värmland.

- I am proud that Luleå, together with the neighboring municipalities, has been asked to host the Swedish World Cup rally. If it were to end up here, it would mean a great deal to the local business community and the hospitality industry in particular, says Luleå Municipal Councilor Lenita Ericsson.

Svenska Rallyt has 100 million global TV viewers, 300,000 followers in social media and 200,000 competition visitors and according to the press release, Svenska Rallyt is investigating what commercial, sporting and visitor industry conditions the four municipalities have to offer.

- Getting this huge annual event here would put us even more on the map as a region at the forefront, and it would create very nice opportunities for our entrepreneurs and associations.
