Finnish biathlete Kaisa Mäkäräinen has an impressive career with World Cup gold in Russian Chanty-Mansijsk as the highlight. She has also won several World Cup victories, the most recent of which was held in Oberhof in mid-January.

But now Mäkäräinen announces that she is ending her career. Today's hunting start at home in Kontilahti will be the last of his career.

“I did my first training session in Kontiolahti in 2003, and today my biathlon career will end. It was not like this I wanted to end without an audience, but it was nothing we could influence. I'm totally okay with my decision even though it's emotional and this season has been tough. But it does not remove all the good things I had in the sport, ”she writes on Instagram.

Earlier yesterday Martin Fourcade announced that he is also ending his career after five Olympic golds and 13 World Cup golds.
