Much of the jump died for Brynäs already in the last round of the match against Växjö. In victory against the small landers, the distance up to the tenth place and the last eighth final place had been a point.

Now it was a loss and the distance grew to seven points. With three innings left to play, the distance is an unimaginable ten points - this after Brynäs lost 4–6 against SHL tri-Rögle while Växjö beat Frölunda by 3-2 on home corn. This is the second season in a row that Gävleklubben misses the finals.

Givmilt Brynäs

Against Rögle, Brynäs was far too lenient to fight for the three points.

The first two bids came in the first period. Almost halfway into the period, Erik Andersson caught a scatter puck at the defensive blue line - in a numerical superior position for Brynäs - and was able to reliably drop the puck back to teammate Taylor Matson, who was allowed open box until the goal.

Less than a minute and a half later - after 11.20 - Dennis Everberg sent in 2-0 on penalty. This is after Everberg was stopped at the moment of shooting when Brynäs again offered the home team an open position.

However, a random goal from Jonathan Siglet with barely two minutes left to play of the period, however, caused Brynäs to make contact before the second act.

Brynäs got better in the second period and after 9.49, Tomi Sallinen sent in a goalkeeper return until 2-2.

There, however, the fun ended for Brynäs - during the last ten minutes of the period, Rögle decided the match.

First, junior Melker Eriksson set his first SHL goal of his career and just 29 seconds later Rögle was given a new free-throw after a dropped Brynäspuck at the offensive blue line. This time Erik Andersson was able to take the finish himself up to 4-2.

Just before the break, Melker Eriksson also showed off his forwards talents when he set up team captain Mattias Sjögren in the castle until 5–2.

Rogue tree in the table

Admittedly, Linus Ölund reduced for Brynäs, but barely halfway into the final act Everberg sent in his second goal of the evening when Rögle played six against four players in anticipation of another Brynäs expulsion. Oskar Kvist was barely able to comfort Brynäs five minutes before full.

Rögle now climbs to third place in the SHL table with three innings left to play.
