Although his stardom has crossed the borders of his country and his continent, the Senegalese star Sadio Mane, the top scorer for the Liverpool team crowned the title of best soccer player in Africa for 2019, has not forgotten the people of his village who owe them credit for what he reached, he said.

"I cannot describe how much support they give me. They push me forward. When I see them I do my best to make them happy," Mane told Liverpool FC website.

Mane, 27, won the Best Player in Africa award after winning the Champions League and the European Super League, achievements that he indicates would not have been possible without the support of his family and the people of his village.

"My village has many good players, but they have not succeeded. They follow me in every match and pray for me. I am willing to sacrifice myself for them and for them to feel proud," Mani added.

About winning the Best African Award, he said, "A dream has come true. From a young age I dreamed of being the best. I have fulfilled my dream, and I am very happy. Certainly I look forward to doing better and winning more titles."

"Playing with a large team like Liverpool and achieving championships with it increases the chances of winning such prizes."
