The Swede was set against the toughest conceivable opposition in the semi-finals where he met the sport's giant with eight straight wins in the overall World Cup - Mikaël Kingsbury, Canada.

Wallberg pressed everything he could, headed in the middle section of the hill, but then lost control.

- It was win or disappear, I pushed as much as I could but couldn't hold it together until the second jump. It didn't matter that it was Kingsbury I met, I tried to do the same thing I did in the other races, to be stuck, but it didn't.

Kingsbury then won the final against Benjamin Cavet, France.

In the fight for third place, Wallberg then met Ikuma Horishima from Japan and after a stable ride he secured the season's eighth podium place. Now the Swede's fifth is in the overall World Cup.

The Swedish gentlemen accounted for a strong team effort when Oskar Elofsson finished sixth, Ludvig Fjällström eleven and Felix Elofsson 15th. Frida Lundblad finished 35th in the women's competition.
