Matthijs de Ligt ran into a defeat in the Serie A on Saturday with Juventus. Despite a club record by Cristiano Ronaldo, the leader went down 2-1 on a visit to Hellas Verona.
Cristiano Ronaldo opened the score for Juventus midway through the second half, where De Ligt participated throughout the match. The Portuguese put the ball in the left corner and scored like this for the tenth Series A-game in a row.
With his goals in the past two months, Ronaldo improved a club record. David Trezeguet (October through December 2005) previously scored in nine consecutive league games for Juventus.
Ten minutes after Ronaldo's opening goal, Fabio Borini tied the score and in the final phase Hellas took the three points. After a foul by Leonardo Bonucci, the ball hit the spot and Giampaolo Pazzini took advantage of the penalty kick.
Due to the defeat, Internazionale Sunday can come up with Juventus. 'De Oude Dame' is three points ahead of the number two, which still plays the city derby against AC Milan on Sunday.
Earlier in the day, Atalanta won 1-2 at Fiorentina, strengthening fourth place. Hans Hateboer remained on the bench with the visitors throughout the match and Marten de Roon was missing due to a suspension.
