Fifth-seeded Austrian tennis star Dominic Thiem struck a big surprise by eliminating Spain's Rafael Nadal, the world number one tennis tournament, after winning it today, in four exciting groups 7-6 (7-3) and 7-6 (7-4) 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), in the quarter-finals.
This is the first time Tim (26 years) succeeded in beating Nadal in the six major tournaments, to avenge his loss against him in the final of Roland Garros in 2018 and 2019, and reach the semi-finals in Melbourne for the first time in his career. The fortunes of Nadal, 33, were frozen in his twentieth Grand Slam title, and the Swiss record Roger Federer, who meets Serbian Novak Djokovic II in the semi-finals.
