The curse of serious knee injuries at OL does not stop at the men's team. After Memphis Depay and Jeff Reine-Adélaïde on December 15 during a terrible defeat against Rennes (0-1), then the young professionals Oumar Solet (19 years) and Sofiane Augarreau (18 years) this month, the Lyon club Ada Hegerberg has also just lost for several months.

Olympique Lyonnais deplores the injury of Ada Hegerberg, victim of a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee, which occurred during training.

OL indeed announced this Tuesday via a press release that the 2018 Ballon d'Or had been "victim of a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee which occurred during training". The date of the operation for the best Lyon striker will be defined in the coming days but there is little doubt that her season is already over.

@AdaStolsmo @OL @OLfeminin You are very strong Ada on and off the field! We will all mobilize so that you are in the best conditions to come back even more strong 💪 We will be by your side, the female OL will stay at highest level while waiting for your return

- Jean-Michel AULAS (@JM_Aulas) January 28, 2020

On Twitter, Jean-Michel Aulas notably split a message of support for the 24-year-old Norwegian striker, while announcing: "The women's OL will stay at the highest level while waiting for your return". The challenge of seeking a 14th ranking title in D1 and especially a fifth consecutive Champions League takes on a whole new dimension without Ada Hegerberg.
