The competitions of the Fujairah International Chess Championship, which was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, were organized yesterday morning and organized by the Fujairah Chess and Culture Club under the supervision of the International Federation for Chess Issues, in the presence of Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi.

And held yesterday, competitions for the second and third categories in the championship, which takes place at the Novotel Fujairah Hotel, with the participation of 359 players from 26 countries, including 112 players from the Emirates, most notably Omran Al Hosani from the Abu Dhabi Club, and Ammar Al Sidrani from the Fujairah Club. The current competitions are distinguished by the participation of some of the best ranked world champions, among them the title holder of the last version, the Polish Mordizia, and the Arab and African champion, the Egyptian, Basem Amin.

For his part, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the tournament, the head of the Fujairah Chess and Culture Club, Dr. Abdullah Al Barkat, stressed that the participation of the world champions elite represented a qualitative addition to the tournament.

The UAE is represented by players of chess clubs in Fujairah, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Al Ain, in addition to the participation of national team players.
