It started slowly for Columbus.

Winnipeg took the lead in the fifth minute, and in the second period, the Canadian team managed to keep their distance to Columbus with a score of 3-2.

But then Gustav Nyquist acknowledged in powerplay. The 30-year-old Swede threw himself against the cage and was able to steer the puck after a shot from teammate Pierre-Luc Dubois.

Oliver Bjorkstrand could then put the final score 4–3 for Columbus in the final minutes.

- You have to get the job done, and I think we did a good job and stuck with it tonight. We found a way to get back into the game every time we ended up in the downside and just kept playing, says Bjorkstrand according to nhl.com.

The Danish-American accounted for two of the goals - and has now made a total of four in the last two matches. He has just returned from injury and is now the first player in Columbus history to score more than one goal in three games in a row. Bjorkstrand also scored two goals in the game against New Jersey on December 21, his last match before the injury.

Winnipeg, for their part, has lost the last four matches.

In tonight's second NHL game, Minnesota defeated table final Detroit at home at the Xcel Energy Center. The only Swedish point of the match was Victor Rask as he played to Jason Zucker who set the lead 3-2. The match finally ended 4–2.
